PHOTO STORY: SUMMER’S GRAND FINALE

Oh, I know you’ve moved on. You’re back in school—or maybe your kids are back in school. If you own a business you’re probably fine tuning your 2014 strategy or maybe you’re bracing yourself for long retail holiday hours. At my place, the Fall fashion catalogs are piling up and all of them scream, HALLOWEEN! THANKSGIVING! CHRISTMAS! If you’re anything like me, enjoying the last spoonful of Summer often gets overshadowed by a suddenly very busy schedule. I know I have to really push myself in September to meet my year-end goals or completely lose my sanity during the holidays. As a result, it often seems like the seasons change in one day and I hate that! So this year, I’m making a little extra effort to get outside and enjoy Summer’s Grand Finale. The sights and sounds are truly breathtaking—and I find that a little of nature’s medicine goes a long way toward helping me supercharge my creativity and focus.

dahliaorangeOne of my favorite spots this time of year is the Dahlia garden at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
The large blooms are simply otherworldly.

The frogs and crickets at night drown out the sound of traffic and I love it!

RANDOM FACT: DID YOU KNOW THAT CICADAS LIVE UNDERGROUND FOR LIKE THIRTEEN YEARS AND ARE ONLY ABOVE GROUND FOR A FEW WEEKS BEFORE DYING?
